How to Apply for General Practice Training in the
CoastCity Country Region
GP training in Australia is a regionalised process, with
21 Regional Training Providers offering training nation
wide. Applications to all Regional Training Providers are centralised, and are being handled by General Practice
Education and Training (GPET).
Registrars are required to nominate their preferred
Regional Training Provider in their application (two
preferences are allowed)
Application forms are available at
www.gpet.com.au. There
will also be an Applicant Guide available at that web site,
which will help you with the application process;
alternatively, you can download it from
here. For
details about the selection process, read the section on
selection at the gpet website. In order to support your
application, you will need certified copies of proof of
citizenship, medical qualifications, medical registration,
and medical indemnity insurance. You will also need 3
separate referee reports, which are filled in by people that
have supervised your medical practice for at least 10 weeks
in the past. Ideally the supervision should have occurred in
Australia and the referees must be available to complete a report to GPET deadlines.
Application requires a number of steps which can be
found here.
