Southern Polyclinic

Southern Polyclinic

We are a group practice comprising of three senior doctors; Dr Ben Lim, Dr Philip Healey and Dr Fiona Brown, who are interested in supporting talented young doctors to establish a practice in the Illawarra.  Just because we are a senior practice doesn’t mean we are old and crotchety, in fact this is quite the contrary!  We are a completely paperless practice and actively maintain excellent electronic records in our clinical management program (Medical Director).  What you will find in our practice team is a potent blend of innovation and experience, in fact we pride ourselves as being at the leading edge of general practice in Australia.  We are wonderfully multicultural and our staff and doctors hail from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.

Through 30 years of practicing in the Illawarra we have amassed lots of things like: plain old fashioned experience of illnesses and their treatment within the context of people’s lives, how to run a business, financial management specifically for doctors, our reputation and good will in the community and simply how to have a good day.  Time has given us a lot over the years and we are eager to share this with the next generation of General Practitioners!

Our mission is to provide the community of the Illawarra excellent primary healthcare in an environment that is respectful of other, adaptive to change and accountable for outcomes.

  • We aim to treat all patients with dignity and respect.
  • We are committed to promoting health, wellbeing and disease prevention to all patients.
  • We embrace diversity in the community and do not discriminate in the provision of excellent care.
  • We strive for excellence in every aspect of the care we provide our patients, from clinical to administrative management.

The trusted image and solid reputation for professional and caring service to the community is something we have worked hard to earn over the past 30 years of serving the Illawarra.   We actively cultivate an environment in which loyalty, integrity, honesty and mutual cooperation are standard values in our dealings with staff, patients, specialists and all other individuals who come into contact with the clinic.

The Southern Polyclinic is a bulk billing practice situated in Albion Park Rail, South of Wollongong at the outskirts of the picturesque Southern Highlands.  We are located next to a train station and service the surrounding communities of Dapto, Oak Flats, Shellharbour, Albion park and as far south as Kiama.  In the past 10 years these areas have experienced the growth of new housing estates and thus a growth in population.

The area is well catered for by other medical services such as radiology, pathology, nuclear medicine and hospitals.  Diagnostic tests are prompt and efficient and we have pathology couriers come twice a day to collect.  We have facilities for MRIs in Wollongong and CT scan facilities at all the radiology facilities.  Our local hospitals are Shellharbour public, Shellharbour private, Wollongong hospital, Port Kembla Hospital and Figtree Private hospital.  Our closest hospital for emergency referral is Shellharbour Public which is 15 minutes away.
