Claiming for Teaching Time

The online teaching allowance claim form (OTAC) is an electronic method of submitting your claim to be paid for your Supervisor's delivery of mandatory teaching time to your Registrar. This is a three step process:

  • Step One consists of entering consulting hours, patient numbers and teaching hours being entered by the Practice Manager (in most instances).
  • Step Two requires the Registrar to have completed their manadatory teaching log for the claim to be successfully submitted by the Practice Manager.
  • Step Three requires the Supervisor and the Registrar to verify that all the information contained in the OTAC is correct.

Registrars should be encouraged to complete their Teaching Log on a weekly basis so that all claims can be submitted on time each month. Once verified, the claim will be processed and payment made on the next scheduled payment date.
